Belinda founded KHL after a career with a major oil company, initially as a reservoir & economics engineer in Asia and Africa and later as the commercial deal lead of M&A, mezzanine financing and clean energy projects. These projects took her to The Middle East and to the Kurdish regions. She was struck by the injustices suffered, but also by the joy and resilience of the Kurdish people. She is currently a Consultant in the area of capturing & geologically storing carbon emissions from heavy industry (CCS), with a dream to one day see CCS in the Kurdish regions.
Zey started her first business at the age of 18 in marketing. She initially joined the KHL network with her business to meet more like-minded Kurds pursuing non-traditional business’. Later, organising KHL hosted events such as ‘Empowering Kurdish Women Into Business.’ The longer she worked with Belinda, the more she grew passionate about supporting the entrepreneurial and career growth of young Kurds like her, so she decided to play an active role in KHL. Now she manages KHL programmes and is the founder of Displaced, a non-profit exploring ethnic identity.
